Looking for a place to learn German in Egypt? This guide puts 7 options in one place: Goethe-Institut, ÄDK, DKW, DUC, Das Deutsche Haus, the Austrian Language Center and the Deutsches Sprachzentrum, with published prices per level, course duration, start dates, branches on Google Maps, and website and social links. If you have not chosen your level yet, read German language levels from A1 to C2, and if you wonder how hard German is, read how difficult German is.
This guide is a comparison, not an official quality ranking. We checked each center's official pages on October 10, 2026, and added comparison calculations (such as price per hour) that the centers do not publish themselves. Anything we could not verify is marked ⚠ instead of guessing a number.
Before you pay: Prices change by branch, group and season, and what we list is what the official sites published at review time. Ask the center for a written quote and the group schedule before paying.
Figures come from the official pages; the price shown is the lowest published beginner-level price in EGP unless stated otherwise:

We compared courses whose center clearly published hours or teaching units. We counted one teaching unit (UE) as 45 minutes, i.e. 0.75 hour. These are our approximate calculations from published figures, not the centers' own prices:

⚠Read with care: the Das Deutsche Haus price page carries a 2016 copyright with no update date, and it is unclear whether a price covers one sub-level or a range of levels. ÄDK's "hour" is as the center publishes it, without saying whether it is 45 or 60 minutes. DKW, DUC and the Austrian center do not publish enough data for this comparison. The cheapest hour is not automatically the best: look at class size, teacher and accreditation.

The accredited exam body (Goethe/telc/ECL) and booking the exam date early
There is no absolute "best"; it depends on your goal, budget and branch proximity. Goethe for direct accreditation, ÄDK for variety and clearly published prices, DKW for branches and online, and Das Deutsche Haus for the lowest published price per hour.
How much is an A1 course in Egypt in 2026?
As published: DUC 2,200 EGP, Das Deutsche Haus 2,500 (extensive, 60 UE), ÄDK 4,500 (regular morning), Goethe 10,800 (regular, 10 weeks), and the Austrian center 100 EUR for A1.1 (12 sessions). A fair comparison needs the number of hours.
How long does each level take?
Goethe: 10 weeks for a regular course. ÄDK: 1.5 months per sub-level (50 hours). DKW: 14 weeks for A1 and A2 (84 hours). Das Deutsche Haus: a 12-week term.
Do I need a placement test?
Usually yes. Goethe requires it for first-time students, ÄDK offers it at 400 EGP for adults, and Das Deutsche Haus and the Austrian center provide placement tests on their sites.
Which center gives a recognized certificate?
The certificate comes from the exam body, not the course center: Goethe-Zertifikat from the Goethe-Institut, and telc and ECL through centers like DKW. See the difference between Goethe, telc and TestDaF.
Are there online courses?
Yes: Goethe, ÄDK, DKW, the Austrian center and Deutsches Sprachzentrum advertise online study, and Das Deutsche Haus advertises online express courses.
Are the prices here final?
No. They are what was published at our review on October 10, 2026, and vary by branch, group and season; some official pages (such as Das Deutsche Haus) show no update date.
